Who can use MOVICOL®

MOVICOL® Adult strength can be used from the age of 12 years.

MOVICOL® Junior strength can be used from 2 years of age.

The MOVICOL® range is suitable for almost everyone. Do not take MOVICOL® if your doctor has told you that you have:
• an obstruction in your intestine (gut)
• a perforated gut wall
• severe inflammatory bowel disease, like ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, or toxic megacolon
• paralysis of the bowel
• an allergy to macrogol or any of the ingredients.

MOVICOL® has the potential to interact with other medications, by altering their absorption.

Close monitoring of the effects of your medications may be necessary when you start or stop taking MOVICOL® regularly.
It is important that you should discuss this with your doctor.

For occasional sufferers of constipation, the gentle action of MOVICOL® allows comfortable and effective relief, while for chronic cases (particularly children and  elderly), MOVICOL® can be used over time to gradually bring bowel movements back under control.

MOVICOL® can be used by patients with impaired cardiovascular function (though with higher doses such as those used to treat faecal impaction they should take no more than two sachets per hour*).

MOVICOL® can be used by patients with renal insufficiency with no need to adjust the dose. The MOVICOL® range contains no sucrose (sugar). (Some varieties contain acesulfame potassium and/or sucralose, which are sweeteners not known to affect blood sugar).

If you are pregnant talk to your doctor before you take MOVICOL®.

MOVICOL® can be taken while breast-feeding.
